Nelma's Sunshine Report for September 14, 2006

1. Lannie Clemons has been in the hospital with pneumonia. He’s been seriously ill, but he’s feeling better and they have gone to Myrtle Beach, S. C.

2. Earldean Moffitt is in Oklahoma with her mother. She had to put her mother in a nursing home. She is 99 years old.

3. Joe Adams is still having trouble with his leg swelling, but he’s still able to go. Did you see his picture in the Southern Standard with his antique quilts? Congratulations Joe!

4. Cecil Prater spent Monday night in the hospital hooked up to a machine being checked for sleep apnea. He won’t know test results for a couple weeks. He came home at 4:30 Tues. morning and walked 1 1/2 miles. He’s doing good!

5. Ben Davis had an accident with a lawn mower recently. He broke his shoulder in three places, and also dislocated his collar bone, and lots of bruises.

6. Doug Moyers and Bill Moffitt lost a friend and co-worder recently. His name was Sam Bacon, and was 106 years old, born in 1900. He died in Cookeville, Tenn., but was reared on a dairy farm in Baltimore, Md. The farm is now a city. Can you imagine all the changes he saw in his lifetime?

7. Barbara Scott is excited! She will become a Great-Grand-Mother in December.

8. Martha Smart isn’t here tonight because she’s attending a Democratic Fund Raiser in Manchester. She also plans to watch her grand-daughter play basketball in Manchester.

9. Arsey Womack had surgery on his foot recently from where he dropped a motor on his foot 8 months ago. His big toe kept hurting and wasn’t getting better, so the doctor xrayed and found a tendon was cut in his big toe. He now has a screw in his big toe, and a pin in the one next to it. Betty has pneuminia, but is feeling some better.

10. Don and Lucy Morgan have moved to their new house on Golf Club Road. They’re still getting settled in. They attended a family reunion in Monteagle, TN, recently.

11. Jim Glenn, Martha Smartt, W.C. and Nelma Chilton attended a NARFE meeting at AEDC Officer’s Club on August 22nd - guests of Coffee County NARFE Chapter. Other area chapters were invited also. Lincoln Davis was the keynote speaker. We enjoyed a nice luncheon and fellowship with others.

12. Mrs. Nettie Moyers isn’t doing very well. Her arthritis is giving her lots of problems. We sure do miss her at our meetings.

13. I talked with Miss Jolly Pryor yesterday morning. She is doing fine, but not quiet settled in. She was going to a NARFE meeting at noon in Florence, AL. They meet at Ryan’s on Wednesdays. This was her first time to attend, so she was excited. She said to tell everyone Hi for her.
