Nelma's Sunshine Report for September 10, 2009

1. Joe and Tommye Adams are doing very well at present. Joe had new stints put in two weeks ago.

2. Ben Davis is still having a very difficult time with health problems. He was in Vanderbilt Hospital, and later transferred to the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham. He has had an infection along with blood clots in his arms and legs. He just came home Tuesday night where he will be in NHC Health Care Center for a lot of therapy. Ben had heart surgery in May and hadn't been home but a few days when he fell and broke his hip, then a little later while in rehab, he fell and broke the stitches loose. "Poor Guy" has had more than his share of problems! Let's try to "cheer him up" by sending him a card at NHC Health Care, P.O. Box 528 Room 128, McMinnville, TN 37110 or to his home at 921 Boyd Ave., McMinnville. Let's also remember Margaret as she's very tired and could use some "cheering up" herself.

3. Cecil Prater fell recently and broke his hip. He has had extensive therapy at River Park Rehab. He is residing at Assisted Living on Highland Dr. I talked with him on Wednesday, and he said he was doing okay. The nurse was with him at that time. His address in Riverview Terrace is Room #1.

4. Did you notice Sue Smartt? She's here at Gondola with a group of young ladies from her 1964 class. She meets with them each year.

5. Martha Smartt isn't here tonight because she's vacationing in Alaska. She went to attend a Post Masters Convention, and she and daughter are doing some sight seeing. Perhaps she can tell us about Alaska at our next meeting!

6. Don and Lucy Morgan visited their son and family in Wichita, KS, recently. Don is having some problems with his right arm.

7. Jim and Nancy Glenn are going to New Hampshire later this Fall to visit their son and daughter-in-law. They plan to visit Martha's Vineyard while in that area.

8. Congratulations to Martha Bell who retired from the Post Office August 28th after 30 years. She isn't here tonight because her mother is sick and, she's caring for her.

9. Doug Moyers' sweetheart "Miss Nettie" fell recently and bruised her hip and cut her arm. Miss Nettie is a lively little thing, even if she can't walk very well. Doug is a good care taker! They've been married many years.

10. Art and Elaine Larson left this morning going to Richmond, VA, to races, then to D.C. and New York. They have been in Iowa to watch their Justin race, and also saw lots of family there. After they returned home, their neice from Florida visited for awhile. They attended the Cannon County Playhouse and later spent 2 weeks in Gatlingburg. They are very busy!

11. W.C. and Nelma plan to attend his Air Force Reunion (Joelton 799th) in Springfield, TN, next weekend.

12. We are excited to have Rae Gray with us here tonight!
