Nelma's Sunshine Report for March 12, 2009
1. Our President, Jim Glenn and his lovely wife Nancy, just returned from Washington D.C. where they attended the NARFE Legislative Training Program. We look forward to hearing what he learned.
2. Martha Smartt will be attending the Post Masters Convention in D.C. next week. Martha enjoys these conventions!
3. Art and Elaine Larson are our "world travelers"!! They went on the Blue Grass Cruise in January. They really enjoyed their trip to Mexico and the Cayman Islands. They recently attended their granddaughter's college basketball game in Wyoming, and this past week they were in Florida attending a nephew's wedding. As you know, Art writes about car races in the Standard. Elaine has become a radio personality.
4. Carol Scott has been in Pittsburg, PA, and also went to Boston, Massachusetts.
5. Arsey and Betty Womack are doing better! Arsey had a doctor's appointment in Nashville today.
6. Georgia Brooks isn't doing well. She is in Centennial ICU in Nashville. as you know, Georgia has had a long battle with cancer. She's a brave lady and a great encourager! [Georgia Brooks died March 14, 2009 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.]
7. Joe Adams still isn't doing well, but he's at home at present. Keep Joe and Tommye in your thoughts and prayers. Cards would be appreciated!
8. Elsie Newby is buiding a new house. She is excited about it - we're excited for her!
9. Rawlin Jernigan had a surgery procedure done Tuesday. He's doing good!
10. Cecil Prater had a tumor taken off his head yesterday. He's at home and doing good at this time. He says he looks bad with his head wrapped! Cards would be appreciated. 213 Westwood Drive, and phone 473-2250.
11. Barbara Scott will have accupuncture for pain on her back in April. We wish her well. Oh yes, she has a new great-grandson who was born March 2, 2009, and weighed 8 pounds 14 ounces. She's a very proud great-grandmother!!
12. Lucy Morgan went on a trip to Gatlingburg with her sisters to see the Christmas lights.
13. Ben and Margaret Davis have a son in the hospital in Temple, Texas. He has had two serious surgeries recently. Ben will have a new defibulator for his heart soon. Margaret keeps busy!
14. Peggy and Harold George will be going to Daytona, Florida. We wish them a nice vacation. Peggy has been sick with a virus, but is better - just weak!
15. I talked with Jolly Pryor tonight - she now lives in Muscle Shoals, Alabama where she moved after Henry died. She and Henry started the NARFE program here over twenty years ago. She was recently given a certificate (Honorary Membership Certificate) for being a member in Tennessee for over 20 years, and for being 85 years old. Health wise, she isn't doing real well. 17. W.C. is feeling better since he got to go fishing this week!
