Nelma's Sunshine Report for September 4, 2008

1. Don and Lucy Morgan's youngest son, wife and girls came from Maryland August 10th and visited for several days.

2. Martha Smartt has attended the Post Master Convention in St. Louis recently. Twenty-nine years ago she and her husband attended the convention there. Martha enjoys these.

3. Sue Smartt fell back in March and broke her shoulder. Our speaker tonight (Joan Alfrado) her occupational therapist is our speaker tonight.

4. Elsie Newby lost her son a few weeks ago due to a motorcycle accident. Our sympathy to Elsie. She plans to retire from the Post Office in January.

5. Barbara Scott had planned to be here tonight, but she had to go to the pain doctor in Lebanon today. He gave her a shot in her back so she isn't very well and he told her to "just lie around for a couple of days. Barbara is having a lot of problems with her back.

6. Cecil Prater is expecting his grandson (Dr. Shawn Prater) to come by for a visit as he comes from his parents in Kansas City back to Duke University Medical School. Cecil is so proud of Dr. Shawn.

7. Boyd Spry took his invalid wife to Woodbury Nursing Home today to visit her 93 year old Dad. Boyd isn't here tonight because he is helping with their program at the jail.

8. Charles Bogle is speaking at the jail tonight.

9. Harold and Peggy George are going to the Smokies Saturday for a week with daughter and her husband. They have recently spent two weeks at Fairfield Glades.

10. Arsey Womack had back surgery July 15, and is doing very well with that, but has a lot of problems with his thyroid.

11. Art and Elaine have been busy. He still does his column in the Standard. She did her military radio program recently. Their neice from Florida has been visiting. Their grandson who races has won two big races recently. One was in Springfield, Illinois, and the other was in DuQuoion, Illinois. They sure are proud of him, and of course they were there at the races. They will celebrate their 47th anniversary September 9th.

12. One of our NARFE members, Julie Knight, passed away July 24th. She worked at the Baxter Post Office. She was 41 years old.

13. Remember me as I start my chemo treatments next week. Had my port put in yesterday. You are all invited to our 50th wedding anniversary October 11th at Bybee Branch Church of Christ building from 2:00 - 4:00. That's on Saturday.
